About

God sure has a crazy way of putting you exactly where you need to be. I worked at Starbucks for six years, making my way up to manager, and along the way realized I could open my own coffee shop. I set out to do so, and my plans morphed into a food truck, but then a bit later, plans changed again…

The name of my food truck was Traveler’s Cup, and during the buildout process, I decided to pet-sit and walk dogs on the side for some extra cash. Since plans changed and I needed to figure out my career, I thought to myself, “What about Traveler’s Pup?” So here we are!

I’m Michelle, the owner of Traveler’s Pup Care! I have 15+ years of experience pet-sitting and am now a professional pet-sitter and dog walker. I am bonded, insured, and Pet CPR and First-Aid Certified. I offer pet-sitting, overnight stays, dog walking, and dog hikes in the Cary and Fox River Grove area. I am also a member of the Cary-Grove Chamber of Commerce.

I have always had a love for animals, and through the years, I’ve had various pets myself – dogs, hamsters, fish, a mouse, and a rabbit! The pet I had the longest was my black lab mix, Amy, who is featured in some of the photos throughout this website! My family and I adopted her from Helping Paws in Woodstock and gave her the best life until she passed in 2019. I’d like to say this business is dedicated to her and all the fun times we had together for 14 years.

Since then, I have adopted a Holland Lop rabbit named Cassie and a German Shepherd named Halo! I’d like to adopt one to two more dogs in the future and hope to train at least one of them as a therapy dog, so we can volunteer at nursing homes and bring comfort and positivity to residents. This idea was inspired by the book, “A Dog Walks Into a Nursing Home: Lessons in the Good Life from an Unlikely Teacher” by Sue Halpern.

In my free time, I love reading, writing, photography, art, cooking, boxing, snowboarding, and traveling! I received my BA in Creative Writing and English from Southern New Hampshire University and have a minor in Psychology.

Now that you know my story, why don’t I get to know you and your pets? Contact me now!
